Formed by just a small number of dedicated people almost 40 years ago, we now number over 150 members from Frome and its immediate surrounding areas who come together in a variety of ways during the month and the year according to their interests and abilities.
We meet in the Assembly Rooms, behind the Memorial Theatre, on Christchurch Street West in Frome, at 2pm on the second Friday of every month, except for May and August, (when we meet on the third Friday). We have a speaker, notices concerning our activities and after the meeting, refreshments are available – tea/coffee/biscuits. We usually finish at about 4.00pm. There is a member's Newsletter published twice a year which contains a calendar of events and the details of all the groups and their activities. A programme of our future monthly talks can be found HERE together with a link back to some of our previous talks.
Alongside our monthly meetings, we have many individual groups where like-minded members meet regularly to pursue their own particular interests or share their areas of knowledge. These take place either in members’ houses or at a small local venue, such as a church hall and are organised and run by members who are happy to offer their time, talents and interests to other members. They usually take place on a monthly basis and there may be a small fee payable, particularly if a local venue is involved. Numbers in these groups are often determined by the size of someone’s sitting room, or the particular venue. From Books through Poetry to Creative Writing and Bird Watching & Nature through Walking to Pub Lunches, there’s something to interest everyone. A full list of groups available can be found HERE with links to detailed descriptions.
New members are always welcome. Membership is only £20 per person per annum, but if you'd like to consider joining why not come along, free, to one of our monthly meetings. Alternatively, click on Contact or send us an EMAIL if you have any queries, comments or suggestions.
