A discussion or debating group with the intention of providing a safe space to explore ideas. Any subject. Unusual or controversial ideas welcome. Political correctness, ‘woke’, cancelling etc. not allowed. A person may well suggest a controversial idea that they don’t personally believe in because they think it’s relevant or interesting. So we can attack the idea, never the person proposing it. It would partly be about the process of discussion itself; there are lots of pitfalls that can get in the way of a good discussion. Of course, as time goes on, and depending on the people involved the approach may change and evolve.
The group coordinator is Henry Parr and meets on the third Thursday of the month, at 2.30. The next meeting will be on 18th September.
